We do need to propose our own solutions to these problems though - for example increasing funding for section 8 would decrease evictions AND be less of a burden on landlords than eviction moratoriums.Imagine, for example, if independent landlords got together and had enough marketing creativity to create, get the public to support, and get landlords to take, a Pledge -- much like Buffet/Gates' "Giving Pledge" -- that they would operate their housing for the good of the community.Imagine if we, like many other industries, self-regulated by our own market pressure such that reporters looking for stories could write stories we want the public to understand.

To proceed in complete asset division of this and keep it fair as possible (without professional legal involvement) it seems like it might be best to have the property independently appraised (this would be at your cost it seems, as it's on your end to choose to buy out brother if I have it right) and move forward with this information as an official sale- moving it into a land contract maybe.
