Newbie House Hacker in Salt Lake Valley
Good Morning, I'm relatively new to the forums here. I'm a new investor to the Salt Lake Valley, just bought my first property in Sandy. My wife and I are going to be living on the main level and renting out the basement apartment once we but a bit of TLC into the place. I was curious if any one had experience dealing with the City of Sandy and getting a conditional use permit for a basement apartment. I'm on the fence about going thru that process even though I'm fairly certain the apartment would meet most qualification I am skeptical of approaching the city and them being difficult to deal with. Any thoughts?
I was also curious if most people are disclosing their basement rentals to their homeowner insurance company? If so do you have a preferred provider to work with? I ran the idea past my current provider and they said that if I did put in an apartment they wouldn't be able to provide coverage.
Thanks
