Unless this is just an inherently bad deal, it’s probably best to avoid a scorched Earth approach involving suing your partner for something you would have to pay for anyway or whenever you get upset.

I recently ran into an issue with the building department where they wanted the entire unit (basement) brought up to code just to approve removing a 5' row of kitchen cabinets.
