With today's technologies and resources, all of this is possible but you need to do your homework and talk to people who have done out of state investing successfully. 

I've been an avid listener of bigger-pockets for years, but I never was too fond about technology.

Most people under 60 now are comfortable with technology and will be willing to embrace self driving cars in 20 years when the technology becomes common and their need for it develops.
