I live in the northern part of the country with long winter/wet seasons.

The market does slow in the winter, but people still move, especially in areas with decent weather.You need to study the market constantly and know how you compare to the competition.

You'll have periods of vacancy during summers and winter breaks, so factor that in.  

I don't know the intricacies of how they are installed or if one is cheaper but I can say with 100% certainty they are going to be better in the snow/winter and extreme weather. 

I'll watch a game down there - just fine then all of a sudden I need 2 sweaters and a winter hat.

Personally I like the A-B neighborhoods, south of the mason dixon line (the winters aren't as harsh), because it's a safer more consistent investment with the rental clientele you're working with and it's almost guarantee'd you'll get every dollar invested back, of course if you buy the right deal.

My wife is a California gal however and the winters would not work.

When we made our winter visit this year, I found that a couple of the TVs had never even been turned on since last year - they were still in guest mode for the times and dates I had programmed last fall.

Since we are in Maine and we are coming out of the winter season I've been spending time marketing and getting the property booked for the Spring/Summer.
