I don't have 20% to put down (could maybe put 10% of total cost), so I had initially through FHA (I will live in the property) construction loan, however now I am realizing the FHA loan only allows financing for 1 unit dwellings.Does anyone else see a way to do this with low money down?

A little background on me, I am from the Houston area, my father has been plumbing new construction apartments since I was 5 so I grew up around construction sites.

At the same time lots of new construction has come along.

I would like to approach my construction investor about turning short term construction capital into a 15 yr mortgage.

I drove up and down the east coast of south Florida last weekend...all houses I saw under construction were block homes.

I also quickly learned the language of construction and I was able to communicate my needs and wants much more clearly. 

Then again this is the city that that does random road construction lasting years where you don’t see workers for months.

Maybe tell them to leave while Construction and offer them first right of refusal to live there again after construction is complete?
