The other advice you are getting is excellent too, I guess when I was that age I could not really 'reduce my expenses' any more, so the next best thing was 'increasing my income' I was able to save up about 7K per year that way, and that was 30 years ago when minimum wage was around $3 hour or so I am guessing.Good Luck, Dan Dietz

I work in Excel for a living, and am extremely comfortable with large sets of data - but I can't stress enough how poor this data quality is.I asked my contact at the assessor, and he said most of their clients are mortgage companies who have the resources to "translate" these data files into something more useable.

On my excel chart i can plug in remaining life in the "Life years" column so on any potential property I can plug in numbers as you suggest.

After this it is best to establish a value of the house (realtor, narrpr.com & zillow), take the mean estimate of all together in your excel spreadsheet to get a good baseline value.
