I am in Wilmington NC, putting the final touches on my first flip, and I am stuck on a problem.I need to replace 2 corner pieces of vinyl siding and I cannot find the right size anywhere in town or even through special order.My corners are 3.5" and every supplier in town has 3" and/or 4" and that's all they can special order too.

In DC, you can't GC at all without a license.Also, I wouldn't say that GC'ing yourself will be cheaper--in many cases, since established GC's have longstanding relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, they can actually provide you cost savings over performing the project yourself.

Get a couple more quotes, plus compare material prices with some suppliers in the area It’s hard to determine whether the price is fair because the nature of the project and the sizes are unknown.

@Chinmay J. it could also be simple economies of scale, since you said its a very small mom and pop shop they may be more expensive than a larger company with better rates from suppliers or pure labor rates.
