Great point, there's also two different behaviors that can logically result from same estimates for future inflation: raise lending rates, OR buy hard assets.

After dealing with this situation for quite some time I started studying scams, frauds then human behavior then cults.

Personal finance is as much behavioral as it is math.

Complete criminals/fraudsters. 

But they all seem to feel that their overall behavior is just not the best. 

If they pay before the court date, they reimburse you for the cost of taking them to court anyways, so you lose nothing but are training the behavior.

I would pursue it civilly and try to get them to pursue criminally.
