I would be looking for coastal/Caribbean, it's mainly going to be something I wanted to do for my mom, and I've never exactly planned a vacation, (I'm 21 with no kids) besides road trips with college buddies...

I'm sure you can find some deals on the less developed Caribbean side.

Then I spent about 2 hours on BP researching Notes since I know next to nothing when it comes to knowing a deal or not.I took my boys to a church carnival and played outside in the beautiful Wisconsin winter weather, sunny and 37° was nice!

Those seem to be 2 hot areas here in the Caribbean.
