The only deduction I could possibly justify to myself are any loss of rent from the agreed upon delayed start date and the day a new tenant moved in- I would attempt to negotiate the return of the full $1500 deposit as an agreed settlement as IMO losing 3x the deposit and attorney's fees are a real possibility-Lastly, those who have indicated that any judgement against would be difficult to collect is absolutely NOT true.
