What is the best way to find top selling real estate agents

Hi BP forums,

I am a former CPA who specialized in financial reporting (not tax) and currently working towards my real estate license. I'm trying to figure out what real estate team or brokerage I should try to join. I'd like to surround myself with the best and brightest so I want to figure out who the top earning agents are in my area.

What's are some methods I can figure out who/what teams are the top sellers?

Thanks!

Your local MLS should have a report of top producing agents and brokerages. You may call them and see if it available to the public. If not, you can probably google top producing agents in your area. A lot of the top producing teams have advertising budgets and will pop up pretty quickly with a google search.

Just know that just because they are a top producing team/brokerage, it may not necessarily be the best fit for you. Don't let yourself get swooned by numbers alone. Make sure you interview several groups before you decide on one. You want to ask about what kind of training and support they have available for you and find out if they are able to offer you referrals or other resources. Some groups will bring on buyers agents to handle a large portion of the buyer referrals. Other teams will make you generate most of your own leads but let you use some of their tools. So you'll want to ask about that. You will also want to know what the team split is like. Sometimes you can end up paying out more of your commission if you join a team.
