"Mineral spirits" will work better but is more expensive and is not worth it for this application.Wear respirators with organic vapor cartridges, I recommend half-face 3M 6000-7000 series with 3M 6001 cartridges.

One thing not mentioned , "rights" you may buy land , but someone else may own the timber rights (they can come in and cut all your trees) Someone may own the mineral rights ( they can come in and strip mine your land) There are water rights , gas rights .
