I currently work in customer service for a tech company but am considering a career change to being a home appraiser or home inspector.I am in Canada and have looked at the requirements, however I was wondering if there are any appraisers or inspectors in the group who can speak to the actual careers and day to day of the jobs.Do you enjoy the job?

After speaking to my RE Agent who assured me it was not under rent control, I got in touch with someone at the state level.

@Patrick SearsIt’s different for each Individual but if your full time job doesn’t max you out in social security you can look at an S Corp and speak to a CPA to see if there are ways to minimize taxable income.With notes really not much you can do if your looking to sell them vs holding them long term.

Speaking from experience, I would keep boarding your horse, and buy a primary as close as possible.

I highly recommend attending networking events and speaking to individuals who you would like to possibly work with to help scale up. 

I'm looking up articles online, reading what I can, but I'd love to actually speak with someone, hear experiences. 

Real estate is not a passive investment.You should speak first to a financial advisor and see if they have any better, more passive, options.

@Steven MorrisGenerally speaking, real estate investments cannot reduce taxes on your high 1099/W2 income. 

This is a completely different opportunity set.Some people speak relevant foreign languages.
