It's nice to have the steady stream of income and no hassle of turning it around, but now I need the cash (buying a personal residence).  

My plan would be to rent out all but one of the multi family units, whether it be du, tri, or 4-plex, and have the remaining one my "residence"

I own my primary residence and am looking to get an investment property or two, however I'm scared of my home market and also thinking ahead to where I might like to retire.
