My wife and I both worked for nearly a decade for a commercial property company focused on leasing and sales in the retail sector so personal real estate investing was always a path we knew we would pursue having seen first hand the wealth real estate can generate.

I'm not saying they're aren't snakes in any profession but i am saying myself and the lenders i work with are some pretty awesome folks who focus on getting the deal through so you as an investor can make money and hopefully use us again on your next project.

@Marc Padilla If Jax is your area of focus, I'd definitely recommend joining JaxREIM on meetup (more of a marketplace where wholesalers and investors message each other) and also check out the JaxREIA website - that is more of a traditional REIA with regular local meetings and education - and time a visit to JAX around one of their meetings.Welcome to BP!

The 401(k) will not have sheltered the gain in value and you will likely end up in a very high tax bracket in the year of distribution.The better strategy is to focus the 401(k) capital on the investment(s) that will produce the best results for the plan, not something you are personally interested in.If the plan held a property that performed well for 5, 10 or 15 years to the point of your retirement, then have the plan sell that property.
