I have seen some become self storage, some workout gyms, some garden centers, some antique stores etc.My clients tend to buy retail centers with internet resistant tenants for mix like doctor, nail salon, hair salon, karate school, gym, restaurant,etc.The sky isn't falling in retail.

So i live in Lawrence County Alabama.. my dad couldn’t afford to pay to taxes on my grandmothers property for 2017 (she’s deceased, but his property) anyway.. he’s been in and out of hospital withh cancer can’t work (self employed, no health insurance) and i couldn’t pay it either... so scrimping and saving to get t back.. mean while the man that bought it in January-March at the sale has cleared off a lot of my dads personal property and been in the house which still holds all of my grandmothers personal items/furniture/pictures/ antiques etc... and is planning to have it logged off....can he do that ??? 

You are correct that some house might appreciate due to age, like an antique.

I use Menards Conco Builder Brand,, I can get the antique white and looks good or do a custom color,, I but the 5 gallon pails for go around and then can always go back and know the same color comes in gallons for turns and touch ups if needed..

State Laws and Condo Covenants are usually antiquated and not kept up to date.  

Bright white shows dirt too easily so if you go with an antique white or ivory it will help hide smudges.

We use home depot UltraHide antique white.

The market is trending towards modern and chic, not bear comforters and grandma’s antiques😂.

Should you end up in small claims court because of the $3,000 antique desk/family heirloom that you "stole" or so callously threw away, you will have substantial evidence to dispute the claim.
