I would say, your best bet is to pain the units a modern greige color like Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore.

It's in Tampa near the water so I just figured it could fit the more high-end, modern look that is desired there than the old school low ceilings.

My thinking is if it is that old the home will sell better with modern materials and features.
