The housing authority would not have let her enter into the rental agreement with you if she could not afford her portion of the rent and all of the associated costs (copay, utilities, etc.) required for renting the unit.

Drawback, if wife gets fed up with you she can empty the accounts, head to Hawaii and file for divorce, since you are not on the accounts not much you can do.
