That means you are purchasing a very expensive savings account with forced contributions and hoping that it appreciates.

In Florida as long as it's a bona fide business interest you're protected.Anyway You are allowed to buy stuff on your personal credit card and put the items into your company it's called a contribution capital.  

Can I put contributions from the note income into an IRA or is that the same as rental income and prohibited?

I am no expert in rentals and RE but as others mentioned Oil and gas industry is a contributing factor.

This is currently less than my actual mortgage rate.My employer 401k will match 50% of up to 6% of my annual contributions - im invested in basic SP index.From your point of view - should i stop, or decrease, my 401k contributions and use those funds to pay off my HELOC sooner?
