One thing you can do is to check out the contractor's other ADU builds, you can see the quality as well as ask for permit and final approvals of those projects to verify.Good luck!

You can name whatever price you want, but unless people are willing to pay it then you’ll be out of luck.Also, careful about charging too high a price relative to properties at a similar quality level and area.

For a quality job make sure you are aware of how much base gravel they will install (usually 3-4 inches), what they will put in for a "binder" or "first course" (1 1/2 inches - 2 inches) and a "top" coat or second course (1 inch).

Or you can think long term and know It always helps to have a local guy who is financially invested in the outcome of a property as opposed to just a paid worker, so you'll get priorities from him, better rates and someone who ensures quality finishing etc.
