He is friends with one of the neighbors on the block that knows he is a real estate investor.  2 deals were dealt his way and he bought them both. 

It sucks that the view to the back yard is blocked (permanently) by the blinds at the moment. 

It seems almost no flips are being done here, even though some houses are old, well-built, spacious on well-kept blocks with no crime and established neighboorhoods.

This could be a good option because you could just block out the dates that you're going to be in town and have the house available otherwise.
