I'm completely fine with this but I'm wondering if it would be difficult to find a brokerage and if its feasible to start and eventually grow into a full-time career. 

I am currently getting things lined up to purchase the Real Estate Salesperson License course for Illinois, am reading books on sales, listening to podcasts, putting together a business plan, looking up Investor Meetup groups, researching brokerages, and just about to finish the Bigger Pockets book on "How to Invest in Real Estate.

I would start building partnerships (and referral fees) with sales brokerages.

A lot of commercial/multifamily brokerages will only advertise their listings on their own website so identify who these prominent multifamily brokerages are in your area and subscribe to their email list or just check their inventory periodically.

You mentioned Schwab, so I went down a brokerage track with my prior response.  

On a personal note, I was audited by the state and found out that the bank I opened my "trust" accounts with for my brokerage with did not actually open true "trust accounts" for me.

None of that would have been possible if I didn’t make that first house hack purchase.In addition to the rental portfolio, I own a real estate brokerage.

Just open a brokerage account and the default money market account should give you 5%+.
