From what I understand La Jolla is akin to Corona Del Mar, so no deals there.

I'm originally from Los Angeles, California but I've been living in the DMV area for the past 3 years; NoVA and DC. 

In Northern VA (NOVA), we do experience higher than the national average on home purchase prices.

Northern Virginia: In NOVA- in 2015 we could get 0.8% occasionally, but recently, in the past year has been more like 0.7% for the best, unless they are far out exurbs.

I'm also in a similar position (based in NOVA, buying in DC), so this thread is very helpful.

The high was Mar'06 at $403k.

Of course Downtown, La Jolla, Point Loma, Del Mar, Solona Beach, etc. are hot, they always will be.
