The interface is user friendly for both me and the tenant.

It's good so far for iOS but there are some bugs and they need to clean up the interface a bit to make it simpler.

Do I need to attend public meetings to interface with people?

As far as user interface for managers, tenants and landlords, it cannot be beaten.

Secondly, since a FSBO has no agent the buyer's agent ends up doing MORE work because they are interfacing with someone who isn't well able to represent themselves.

If it turns out to be helpful, consider having them build a data mapping interface so you can tailor it for future use against other counties/formats.Be sure that your agreement gives you ownership of the intellectual property - don't let them bamboozle you with stories of Proprietary Elements. 

Each municipality has its own process, and some interface better than others with your business model and management style.  

@Joel Owens@Charlie MacPhersonThe BIC hire would be one of the last resorts I would take.I have two priorities right now.1) Capture the Buyer Side Commission as I buy properties to add to my Portfolio2) Figure out all the other business processes for a Brokerage firm for 2 reasons:a) Broker for Friends and Familyb) Apply Business Analyst techniques so I can interface with my IT Software Firm to create a Broker Office Application which can be offered to other Start up Brokerages, competing at the lower entry level at first.I will probably hire a BIC after I generate enough commissions from my own purchases.

There is a great book called the Checklist Manifesto by Gawande which has helped me a lot in organizing my approach.As of last year I would use Freshbooks for accounting but I'm switching to OneUp because I feel like the interface is better. 

Pity- I think the principals had good intentions but a slick technology portal and interface cannot replace the day in day out grind of managing properties in Detroit.
