Another example:  Around here, it is common to find two comparable neighborhoods separated by some imaginary district line.

Only investors do that ;-), and not all of them.This is a common newbie mistake.  

I mean come on,  most of the people traveling around this area are very into "small" kind of a "hipppie" lifestyle and don't usually travel in large groups.

I want get some advice as to how to find good contractors or general contractors, what kind of steps do I need to take to screen them, and what kind of questions I should ask? 

It's just kind of knowing where the money comes from and what exactly is their product.
