I had learned so much in San Antonio and failed so many times in acquiring a property that it was less than 60 days in Dallas and I had my first property - a duplex with my VA loan.

I am based in Northern virginia and invest primarily in SFH and small multi family in Cleveland.

More specifically I want to gather information on a unique real estate investing technique called military house hacking, or using a VA loan to invest in real estate. 

We have 4 Lowes stores in the Roanoke, VA area and they have been great - even when I've moved delivery dates 3 times due to other parts of rehab being behind schedule.

Below are some details I was able to get off the phone-The properties are located in Tappahannock,VA and the owner has had them since ‘96. 

Since I’m not using VA or FHA loans, and deals max out at $325,000 in my area that gives you some idea.

I'm a remote investor (from VA) and looking to enter a few markets in NC.

VA Appraisal Scenario:If you are under contract to purchase a home with a VA backed (Veterans) home loan, and the VA appraiser completes the appraisal well after the inspection contingency expires, will the buyer get their earnest money back if the VA's required repairs are too great for either buyer or seller to manage, even if the home appraised high enough?   

I am a new investor looking to buy my first investment property in the Richmond, VA area!

All Im looking for is a triplex or quadplex in a good location that is livable since Im using a VA loan.
