Damages in an installment sale can be avoided with respect to equity financed in the deal, but there can be other damages and the cash funded lender, the underlying mortgagee can seek damages against the maker of that loan, which in turn become damages they may seek against you arising from your default in paying.Search here concerning seller financing, sub-2 and installment deals.

I got the distinct impression from the agent that it was the bank holding  things up (including the price,) as much earlier in the process they'd had an offer accepted by the bank, but because they dragged it out so long, the offer maker withdrew.
