Are you on the same page as your employees?

I had to set up when I was still a W-2 employee.

I'm a full time employee working in Silicon Valley, really like what I do and the company but I wanted to learn how to make money work for me rather than me continuously working for it.

The market at the moment sells at good discounts compared to 2/3 years ago and probably will see another correction in the upcoming months.I would like to hear your opinion about two possibiliteis I have and, for convenience, I'm going to convert all the numbers in USD (rounded for easiness)I receive from my employee an allowance to rent on my own of 46.800 USD a year.

I ran my Property Management Co. as an S corp, and I was treated as a employee of the company and got a salary  (my CPA recommended this entity, it minimized my taxes).

This requires a lot of experience, a gigantic mess of paperwork, lots of cash reserves, and usually other employees to manage the listings. 

I see this as more specific than a business plan and something that I could share with partners and employees to help keep us all focused on the important tasks.

I know it can get you in a tough spot if you say the wrong bad things about an employee to a new employer - how does it pertain to tenants good and bad? 

I recently left a full-time, W2 employee position and am now working solely on 1099.
