I'm kinda anal, so rather than just rolling up each floor & chunking it onto a trailer for disposal, I cut the carpet in each room into thirds, then folded it and stacked it outside - so I still have it.

We would like to see if we can convert it in the following way, and perhaps make it a legal area:1) Remove the current bathroom facilities and turn it into a laundry room with washer and dryer.2) Remove kitchen sink, and rearrange the countertops so it can be used for folding clothes, etc.We would then rent the space as part of our 2nd rental unit, with of course  an increase in rent for the 2nd unit to account for increase square footage and laundry facilities the tenants would receive.

@Mike NelsonMy response is two fold depending on whether or not you still want the property or notI would call the city inspector and ask a general question as to how he/she would handle the situation and go from there.

And yes the sale of these is two fold ... one direct with the TK company and or through a marketing agent like some of those you mentioned above who are just like free lance RE brokers representing those TK companies that will pay them to market their product...
