Inground pool liner

Has anyone ever replaced an inground pool liner? If what are some lessons learned? I got a quoted $3000 for the pool company to do it but I would like to DIY so I know what's really involved in the future. Watched a youtube video and it seems easy enough. The pool has not been used in a year or so. But the structure appears to be good. The house will probably be a rental but I may sell it.
