My brother and I are investors in Illinois looking to purchase a multi family with one of the occupants being our parents.

One my brother finishes school, I may sell that home and turn the equity into 1-2 more houses. 

I always tell people: what if it was your mother, sister, brother, that got screwed over by some of these unlicensed brokers?

The only thing I would be concerned is if the tenant would try and fix it themselves or have their brother fix it who is kinda a handyman.

My sister & brother-in-law live in one where 2 out of 3 bedrooms in their place is in the basement with lower than 7.5ft ceilings.
