If getting the prop in my name would I just get liability insurance maybe umbrella including the rental property?

@Kevin Hoag well it is owned by a non profit agency of the town and I was told it is held under some large umbrella policy.

Regarding having multiple mortages, insurance policies, I believe there are portfolio loans and umbrella insurance policies for having multiple properties. 

I've gotten some mixed opinions: create LLC vs purchase more insurance per house in addition to umbrella policy.

A true community of likeminded people with a similar goal under the umbrella of RE.As mentioned I am new to bigger pockets and real estate in general.

What is the action that triggers changing from insuring each property one-by-one to creating an umbrella policy to cover the portfolio?

Your property insurance will change to a landlord policy, your second layer of defense is an umbrella policy.Not knowing anything about the tenants yet, would we be able to start new leases with them as new owners (I would think yes?)

I would do more research on the umbrella policies and "piercing the veil" of the LLC.
