I talked to an IRS auditor a couple of years ago and he said that with today's business models, the IRS recognized some time ago that it would be very common and they no longer necessarily use the home office as a leading indicator of the need for an audit.

In my opinion, I'd put the average roof life around here closer to 10-12 years, however, I recognize this is probably aggressive and there isn't much benefit to it so I'll stick with the 27.5 years, but wanted to make sure me or my accountant weren't forgetting any options.

For an explanation of the limitations of Trusts and Corporations in your state, you should speak with a Business Attorney in any of the states you wish to operate, as it is possible that you may not be able to register as a foreign entity in those states that do not recognize the incorporation style.For example; such a structure would likely be fine in Virginia.
