@Jennifer Annen I believe in occupancy, which means if you have a good tenant taking care of the property and paying the rent on time, don't rock the boat that much.

@Hush Dinero , the FHA loan comes with a 1-year owner occupancy requirement, meaning you couldn't rent it out for the first year.Not really a problem, if you're looking to live there anyway, and after one year you can rent the entire thing out.Let me throw another concept at you, something we call House Hacking here on BiggerPockets.

I also make sure that I take lots of photos prior to occupancy and during inspections so that we keep up on how the lawn is or isn't being maintained.
