Something tells me in this case, THEY, THE OWNERS, would be punished by the law.In any case, stories like this are bizarre and amusing.

Don't delay this part because you want to use the legal system to punish an outgoing tenant.

HOWEVER, this was compounded because those bad landlords maybe FEW, but they tend to own a LARGE percentage of the rent controlled buildings.Unfortunately, legit landlords like me (and I'm sure most of us here on BP), are suffering from an UNDERSTANDABLE over-reaction towards BAD Landlords.I wish they can retroactively punish those bad landlords but unfortunately, those bad landlords know exactly how to protect themselves, and this is probably why there is such an over-reaction.I really don't blame Liberals...

I would never lie to a government agency and i feel like I'm getting "punished" instead of the one who actually lied.

We always stick to these three rules: 1) Pick a finish that can withstand a little punishment. 2) Pick a neutral color (beige, light gray, etc.) that goes with anyone's decor. 3) Use the same paint in every property you own and keep a bucket readily available when it is time to touch things up.

As far as I know, when the debtor has money owed to her from the state, sometimes that money might be redirected to those who have won small claims cases against her.Personally, I would view the small claims victory more as a punishment against the debtor because it will show up on their background checks and whatnot.
