This is not uncommon as most small developers try to avoid involving the City in light renovation, but this seems to be more than light reno work.Is there a way to still make this deal work?

Hello,I have just began to start searching for my first investment property in the NW Twin Cities metro.

Because it was in a small town, the city got wind of it and got involved and required me to get permits for everything and bring everything up to code.

I live in New York City and have been looking for a mentor as well.

Being that it's a tourist city, Brand Ambassadors frequent the city and theirs always flight crew passing through, I know it will be very busy.

Still can't believe that the city of NY will make you wait this long. 

I plan to spend about 6-12 months in a relatively inexpensive city (anywhere in California) that is close enough to a good real estate school. 

Prices in my city (Colorado Springs, CO) are extremely high.

In TN & KY (only states Ive dug in to) a commercial property under 5,000 sqft does not require architectural plans/stamps UNLESS the city ordinance requires them.

I just got a house under contract in a medium size city in Missouri.
