Suppose I buy a painting and use it in staging of a property that I am selling (that is, I am not the realtor selling, it's my property).

Staging is key in todays market.You have to do what you have to do to sell.Too bad I'm not there to help.....

They pull excess cash out of a property even if it is only to place in alternate investment vehicles.

Never have knives or breakable glass available in the kitchen if you've staged it.

Just in the beginning stages of thinking about this and would like to hear the pros and cons. 

If you want to succeed you need to move out of your denial stage and realise that selling is the right and only option if you plan on moving forward.You can polish a turd until it shines like a diamond but it will always be a turd.
