Ive been doing this a week and after speaking with some investors in southern california to get some information as simple as a question like "what types of properties do you invest in"...its like pulling teeth.  

@Paul Ewing I would love it if $600 was all it would take to get people to move out in Southern California, but most of the time it's not even close!

For now I want to focus on small properties in my local area; single family up to fourplexes in Salt Lake County and the southern part of Davis County in Utah.

@Bronson Peralta, Welcome to BP, you'll love Portland, my wife and I moved here in 2005 from Southern California and and we love it.Along with following Jay and Mike, you should also check out both Rarebird (www.myrarebird) and Northwest REIA (www.northwestreia.com) as they hold monthly meetings and are great places to network.We also have a great group of people arranging BP meet-and-greets in the area, hopefully we'll do it on a quarterly basis.Good luck.
