I do the same as Dawn is transitioning to.

The thieves were nice enough to turn the water off on the fridge and dishwasher lines before cutting them (I had one thief who wasn't as nice and ruined about 900 sq ft of carpet when they stole my fridge).

@Dawn Anastasi I intend to do that but so far I have not though of a "nice" way to ask.
