I'm serving at Fort Bragg as well and will be here for the full 20 (my unit is only stationed at bragg...yay).

He's military which adds an interesting twist because he has permanent change of station orders out of CA in May.   

I would call it a D class neighborhood, I have seen some very SKETCH behaviors in that neighborhood, I had a coworker who saw a homicide at the gas station on cutting and 37th.

A little bit about me and my expectations, I’m a active duty stationed in Camp Pendleton but in the next 6 months being transferred to 29 palms(both in California).

Currently, I am stationed in Quantico VA at Camp Barrett.

Leaders in Washington can wish and hope to turn the tide all they want but the train has left the station, personally I believe the we will revert back to Obama era policies of non-interference for law abiding business.

The area is in the downtown of the town that I grew up in( so very familiar with the demographics and historical rents etc. ) and have noticed it trending up for the last decade or so due to nightlife, low crime and decent schools, major train station in town, and the coast line with beaches .The house  has two units which are currently yielding 1600 and 1500.

If you buy a house in every city your stationed at, you will have a nice rental income at retirement.

I added a screen around the wood burning stove, a Keurig, and made a little coffe station with K-cups, sugar, creamers, etc.
