There is little you will have direct influence over.

I think it is a situation where people are so influenced by propaganda ,even at the highest levels of local government ( Mayor,etc) that they behave in an irrational way.Have you considered other local markets where the cities might be possibly be less hostile towards investors...

Colleagues and People You Follow will influence what you see happening on your feed on the home tab but have no direct impact on the networking that you can accomplish by posting frequently and often on Bigger Pockets.

With people in the real estate field and even in general, the more people you know, the larger your social circle/sphere of influence will be.

The concepts are mostly simple to understand...the challenge comes in when folks don't maintain discipline and allow emotions to influence their decisions.
