On some rehabs I have done, it's incredibly useful as it's basically a scope of work that you can give to your contractor. 2nd, check out your local Rei as they should have a class on this subject also. 3rd, Fast Track Remodeling in Houston has an app that uses their quick estimation method to calculate rehab costs based on square footage.
