Sure enough, the line from the house to the street was brand new...but the line under the slab was 60+ years old, and it was fried.

That would be like McD's charging $7 for a small order of fries because it takes just as much work as a $9 combo.Let me guess!

Certainly beats driving to a rental at midnight when your guests lock themselves out or monitoring your guests turning the thermostat down to 65 degrees and frying your HVAC unit.Ultimately, the decision depends on your comfort level.

I would think the IRS has bigger fish to fry than a home owner trying to save $10-$30k on their tax bill.

They need to get a final inspection to close the mechanical and electrical inspection passed through the county on Fri.

Consider if a modified schedule would work (like Tue-Thurs in the new town), or if you could drive there and back Mon morn and Fri afternoon...not for long term, but just long enough to keep the occupancy a few months longer.  

I have it from local real estate attorney in my area that Texas Series LLC are particularly well suited to SFR investing, especially for "small fry".
