I have a unit in Sailboat Bend - SFH with a back 1/1 cottage.

South Bend, IN, Mishawaka, IN, Elkhart, IN, Goshen, IN are all places that have “larger” population densities in northern Indiana with houses in this price point.

West Bend is also an option, but that's quite a drive.

I'd also look for places that are about an hour away from Major cities (for example in Texas: Brazoria, Galveston, Bexar, Fort Bend, etc.), there's plenty of land. 

Being that you are young, people will bend over backwards to help you.
