I use Canon high resolution paper to because it has a waxy smooth surface that allow easy removal of each sticky note.

I do epoxy floors and concrete polishing (Full Mechanical) and  I tell people all the time that the coating I put down is only as good as the surface it is applied to.

Depending on how bad the surface is, I agree with @Christine Kankowski and I would go with basketball on one side and I like her idea for the wall on the other.
