What is more likely is a consideration further inland that is better protected from 500-year events like these

It just depends on the level of affluence or whether you are on the beach side or inland. 

I'm not building my 'empire' quickly.

I am looking for rules of thumb and to gain a better  understanding of the philosophy behind valuing and investing in land. 

I specialized in land that was dog tough to sell.... and the market was tough then....

Have any of you dealt with inland marine insurance?

I'd be curious as to how the typical insurance rates compare to inland cities though.

So from an investment standpoint, I wonder if the best could be to work with a builder to build them, sell them separately, and invest in land to set up spaces like a mobile home park and rent/lease the spaces??
