I live and invest in Asheville/Western North Carolina.

I’ve been looking in my markets (western Chicagoland) however I’ve also been looking at markets down in Tennessee as a place to buy and hold property as moving there eventually is not an if but a when.

As a first time investor, western washington is getting pretty tough and Spokane seems like an area that has a lot of growth potential.

Maybe even in western NY -Rochester-Buffalo-SyracuseAre closing costs higher?

I ran into some issues in Springfield, MA near Western New England University with restrictive covenants on the properties not allowing them to be used as rentals and these were single family homes so make sure you do your homework or have use a good real estate agent.

In our state or and wa cal western had a presence however was not the dominate player I believe northwest trustee service was or is.

Maybe cali tenants are different than us mid-westerns.

In 2005 my rent for a 2 bedroom 2 bath was $1800 in a non-rent controlled apartment building in Western Addition.
