Wear an N95 mask and clean your clothes (washing machine) immediately after you are done working.The pros will charge you about 3k per item for removal so it will get expensive fast.I have no opinions on the clothe wiring other than it looks like you are gutting the house.

This happens in hallways in elevators according to the Owners that I work with on apartment buildings.Most new builds these days use carpet tiles that can be cleaning or easily pulled out and replaced.It might not hurt to take a UV flashlight, dim the lights, and see if you can locate any "accident" areas.If its not pet (or trash as mentioned above), it could be adjacent tenants.As far as making things smell better, they do make scent machines that hookup to your HVAC system and you get to pick the scent it diffuses.

He did have his girlfriend living with him and I turned a blind eye, he never changed any filters as required by a contract so I covered for that, he didn’t properly cared for a new washing machine and it accumulated lots of mold so I covered for that as a courtesy.
