I live out of state of where my STR will be in, and I'm installing keypad entry for the door but those things run on batteries so I wouldn't be able to go there and change them so it would be good to have an on-call handyman that would be able to do this.

I won't go into detail, but I bought 20 acres next to National Forest in Utah and made it self sufficient: 2 homes, 70' serviceable wind generator, automatic tracking solar panels, a roomful of batteries, a half acre pond (12' deep with rubber liner) and a deep well.It also had a 24x30 garage built OVER a concrete basement of same size with steel door entrance.

If the remote with delivered in perfect working condition, then the tenant should be held responsible.Maybe it just needs a new battery.. ( LOL )

It's on a battery backup (about 24 hours worth of power) if the electricity is turned off or power is removed.I guess a burglar could smash the transmitter unit to keep it from calling out, but they'd have to be able to find it and destroy it within 20 seconds of breaking in, so I'm not sure they'd be able to do that unless they had been casing the place and knew exactly where it was.Regardless, the high pitched alarm is generally enough to scare off any intruders...at least in my experience...

The Storm comes out on Friday, 11/21.What I didn’t like about the iPhone is the issue of replacing the battery.
